Dear
Friends of www.savechilhoweemountain.org,
To all the artists that have performed
at the 3 Benefit Concerts we've had so
far we just want to thank you all
again for your generosity. These have been wonderful events and
we as a not-for-profit 501-C organization
are rolling up our sleeves and anticipating
that 2008 will be a year in which we can raise our
community's awareness of just what is
at stake here in Blount County and
East Tennessee. The forces that are against preservation are smart
and well connected and they work tirelessly
below the radar with their plans
for super highways, exclusive
mountain subdivisions, the wasting
of our natural resources and urban sprawl.
We are dedicated to keeping the public
informed and out front of these backroom deals, and with
your help, our Benefit Concerts will
show that we can have fun doing it.
We are now in the process of planning
our next Concert at The Shed and I
wanted to let you know what we're
up to. In an effort to reach out to the
whole community and to make sure that
we are seen as an expansive and inclusive
organization, we are inviting a mostly new line-up of musicians.
This in no way reflects on those who've
given of their time and
talent at past concerts, but
is an effort to spread the love and
reach out to both performers and their
audiences.
If you have performed for us in the
past, and this includes folks like
Steve Kaufman, The Sisters of the
Silver Sage, Robinella and many more, rest assured how much
we appreciate it and we will be asking
you to perform again in the near future. Our cause
is a long haul proposition that will
require that we all share the load
and involve as many of the talented artists in our area
as we can. If you know of an up-and-coming
singer/songwriter
or band that would be interested
in performing at some future benefit,
let me know. Word of mouth has an awesome
power about it, so we are
always updating our list.
I urge you all to tell your friends
and fans about our upcoming benefit
and encourage them to attend, and
we invite you all to come and enjoy
the show too.
We are planning on a fall benefit
later in the year so keep your
eyes and ears open because we may be calling on
you!
The next Benefit will be at The
Shed on Saturday, June 21st (the
Summer Solstice!) at 7pm and will
include The Earl Brothers, Garage Deluxe,
Scott McMahan with Bootleg Soul
and the T West Band.
Please get the word out to all
your friends and contacts and
keep showing your support for
our important work. We can't do it
without people like you.
See you in June!
